Several government agencies including National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Defense, the Federal Drug Administration, and the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development  Authority are holding a Filovirus Medical Countermeasures (MCM) Workshop on August 22-23, 2013 to be held in Rockville, MD.  The goals of the 2-day event tentatively include:
 
  • Presentations by government agencies of their current MCM requirements
  • Presentations by selected companies, investigators and sponsors of their candidate MCMs
  • Discussion of recent human disease experiences that may inform MCM development
  • FANG (Filovirus Animal Non-Clinical Group) sub-group updates regarding assays, challenge material, and animal models for MCM development
  • Update about data quality systems for BSL4 studies during MCM development
 
Investigators and others with an interest in filoviruses and development of vaccines and therapeutics related to these diseases are invited to attend.
